The problem with using my work Laptop as the only means of internet access at home is that you get a bit limited as to what you can do with it, I'm not talking about pr0n (well, not exclusively anyway) but all the other stuff like trying different browsers, IM, P2P and heaps of other stuff that work wouldn't really approve of.
So, I have set up a dedicated machine in the kitchen that is going to be my main home machine and will stay connected to broadband most of the time. The machine I am using a laptop that has a dubious past, it's not "hot" but it doesn't exist technically...
This laptop had Win 98 on it and as you need to have 98SE or higher to use a BT voyager 105 modem I have changed that to XP pro (for now). I had an external CD Writer doing nothing so that's hooked up too. I have changed my browser to
Firefox because lots of people reccomend it, so far I think it's great, I have never used anything but IE so I'm still sussing it out (more to come on this later). I'm also using
Kazaa , that's proving quite interesting too.
