Why do BBC Radio sports reports assume their listeners have prior knowledge of the subject? I'm not a big sports fan but there are plenty of Sports Reports on the radio and they deliberately make them hard to understand.
When football players are transferred between teams they often give what I think must be the teams addresses, Joe Bloggs has moved to "Eland Road" or Paul Smith has completed his move to "The Hawthorns", what is that all about? Neither of those are clubs, why not just say "Chelsea" or "Birmingham City"
Yesterday the big news was that Michael Owen might leave Liverpool, they were saying that if he played last night then his price would go down because he was... well I'm not even sure what they were saying, it was either "Cup tied" or "Cupped tight". I heard the story several times and they didn't explain what that meant once.
