It’s been a strange sort of week really, one of those where you have very few spare moments but at the end of it (Saturday) it’s not easy to look back on the week with any sort of satisfaction. Worked hard but achieved very little in terms of *progress*, I suppose that a big part of my current job is “Customer Relationship Management” and to be fair I have done plenty of it in the last few days, it’s frustrating spending time curing symptoms when I could be curing the real problems…
Anyway…
I do finally have a DSL line at home and it is great, I’ve not got a VPN client yet so it’s purely for R&R at the moment, listened to
Home Truths (last weeks one) this morning while doing the washing up long before anyone else was up, that is “quality time”!
I did have problems getting the whole Broadband thing set up though, my home PC is part Dinosaur and only had Windows 98 on it, according to the tech-support and Website of BT Broadband that shouldn’t cause any problems but it did! The software for the later ADSL modems won’t work on anything less than 98SE, a fact that it took them 20 minutes to realise. Never one to miss an opportunity for an upgrade, I’ve now installed XP Pro and Office 2003 Pro, I really do need a new machine though.
