No posts from me for a long, long time. I have been "enjoying" a period of intense hard work, stress and just general shite for the last couple of weeks, it's not going to be over for at least another week either and this is a very bad thing.

The biggest problem has been that my employer made a mistake when paying me at the end of January, leaving me short of cash at a time when I really needed not to be (still trying to catch up after Christmas spending). Mistakes happen but it still hasn't been sorted out and I have a strong suspicion that the same thing will happen this month too. Chasing them up constantly and getting the project manager involved has not helped me at all, if it happens again I will be pissed off.

I've been spending quite a lot of time working away from home recently, it's not something I like to do too much because I know Georgia misses me (and I miss her too!) and it's a lot of work for Clare on her own. I'll be away for a few days at the start of next week, and then the rest of the week will be 250 mile round-trips to work, so starting at stupid-o-clock in the morning is going to be the norm for a while.

This week I had to fly to Glasgow for a couple of meetings, whilst there I unexpectedly fell in love. I had not been to Glasgow before, even when I spent a week staying reasonably close to the city it never really appealed to me and so I visited Edinburgh instead. I know I only spent about 24 hours in the City in total, but I was completely seduced by the place, I want to go back and spend some free time enjoying it. I do have the chance to work there on a contract that should end in July 2005, if I was single I wouldn't hesitate for a second but I feel like I should be putting down roots (or at least staying in the same place) for Georgia. I don't want her to have to move schools all the time and we really are happy living here...

I stayed in the Millennium Hotel in Glasgow, it's in a great place for a bit of late night Guinness fuelled exploring, it's also a really nice hotel and one I would be quite happy to stay in again. All this is in sharp contrast to the Hotel I normally stay in when I'm in Crewe, it's a place I stay in quite often but never really want to!

So, next week is going to be another busy one but by the end of it I should be a "Green Belt" in Six Sigma (for info: that doesn't mean I'll be able to kick your Ass, but I might be able to eliminate defects from your processes)
