Tomorrow is the first day of May, a pretty significant date for anyone living, working or (more importantly) studying in Oxford. Tomorrow morning there will be massive crowds gathered on Oxford’s
Magdalen Bridge as the choir sing in dawn on the first day of spring.
I’m going to make an effort to get myself there, despite the hour and a half drive before sunrise. It really is a special experience, always (IMO) good-natured. The pubs all open at 6am too, which is nice!
This year
strengthening work to the stonework on the bridge has been completed, so the bridge will be open to the public. I believe barriers will be in place to stop people jumping into the (not very deep) river.
