One of the things I do want to do this year is go camping again, it's been ages since I have slept under canvas (or even rip-stop nylon) but in the past I've camped in many places in this country and even a bit in Canada. I can't remember a time when I didn't enjoy it, even at -12 degrees in the Brecon Beacons or that time when I put the tent up in the dark on (what turned out to be) a flood plain...
So, I fancy getting away again but the problem is that Clare is not keen at all on the idea and has never enjoyed camping. I'm sure that if I made it clear that I
really, really wanted us to go then she would come along, but that would spoil it for me I think.
You know what it's like, you recommend a film to someone and then worry all the way through that they might not be enjoying it? It would take the fun out of it for me if I was worrying that every little hitch could spell disaster for the trip.
Would it be odd to go on my own? I quite fancy the idea of camping near the office in the week, it would save loads on hotel bills (not that I pay them, but you know what I mean).
