The first proper snow of the season has caught people out again, more motorists were stranded overnight.

I was only thinking yesterday that I'm going to pack a box in the car with a few essentials to be used in the event of getting stuck somewhere. I think some blankets or a duvet, some food and water, a torch, (company) credit card and some extra clothes and boots would be a good idea. The box lid could be a good shovel too. I'd like to get a 12v kettle too, like the one here.

I'll also try to make sure I always have at least half a tank of fuel all the time so that I can have heating and power.

I'm not expecting to get stuck anywhere but I am often a long way from home and even a shut motorway end up with you being in traffic for hours.
