We're starting to think about holidays for this year, it would be nice to get away somewhere for a least a week. For the last few years we haven't really had a "proper" holiday, instead opting the occasional long weekend away somewhere or just taking time off at home.

We do have plans for next year as most of my family are planning to spend a couple of weeks in Florida, the last time we all went was in '99 when Clare and I got married. So, this year we'll be looking for a week away, somewhere cheap.

I suppose the easy thing to do would be to book a cheap package holiday to somewhere like Majorca, I'm not against the idea but beach based holidays aren't really my thing. I would like to load up the car, book a return trip on the Chunnel and then take it from there. Last time we did it we were young and free from responsibilities and we had a great time, this time we do have responsibilities but one week of acting on impulse can't hurt, right?

Time to study a map of Europe and see what looks appealing, any suggestions?
