	Thursday, May 27, 2004 I'm going to Amsterdam this weekend for my good mate Tim's (long overdue) Stag Weekend... I've only been once before, in 1996 when Clare and I drove there in a Mini Cooper, this time it's going to be a little different! - Steve, 3:08 PM, Spurred on by plenty of recent trips to Borders, and then the inevitable realisation that I actually don't have a large enough disposable income to spend on books, so I recently decided to join the local library. I really have no idea why I didn't do it years ago. I generally only ever read books once so borrowing rather than buying is always going to be a better option for me. I also enrolled Georgia, she has had loads of books in the last couple of weeks (we take about 10 out at a time for her) and we manage to get a good half an hour of stories in most nights, I think I enjoy reading them as much as she enjoys listening! Really terrible. - Steve, 8:13 PM, Sunday, May 23, 2004 I think I got caught speeding yesterday by an officer with a laser gun thing. I'm quite ashamed of myself as I was really going way too fast and will almost certainly be facing a ban if I did get caught. I haven't eaten or slept well since, quite worried about losing my job over this. - Steve, 1:06 PM, Thursday, May 20, 2004 Oxford from the air. - Steve, 1:20 PM, Wi-Fi access on Trains is a good idea, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would take the opportunity to use the time on the train to get some work done (I do already via GSM). The problem is that on many trains (normally the ones I use) there are no seats available, let alone seats with a table and some space to work. Trains are also too expensive for people who have the choice of how to travel, my frequent trips from Bicester to Crewe are faster, cheaper, more comfortable and more flexible than using the Train. Lower the prices, make the trains longer and I'll use the train much more often than I do at present. - Steve, 12:52 PM, Wednesday, May 05, 2004 Did I mention that my laptop died? I'm sure I probably did. Got a new one now, it's a Dell Latitude D800 and it really is rather good. It's also the only Widescreen screen (?) I own (not that I actually own it you understand). - Steve, 1:29 AM, Saturday was the first day of May, so, in true Oxonian tradition I got myself into Oxford and on Magdalen Bridge by 6am to celebrate. For once I was a little early, having got up at 4am to make sure I had plenty of time to get there. High street was packed (around 10,000 in my estimate), the atmosphere was generally good as usual but there was the ever present mix of American and European "tossers" in attendance. I tried my best to bear in mind that I had been to bed for about 3 hours and then got up, and they had been out drinking all night... At 6am the choir sang and I was quite surprised that so many people managed to keep (almost) silent for the duration, I even put my phone on to the Meeting profile. After the Singing, Praying and the Morris Dancing (about 6.15am) I met up a friend on mine and we headed for a couple of beers in George St. The Cock&Camel were open from 6am and they had a DJ who was playing a really good mix of Jazz Funk and Soul, it was perfect for the occasion. Guinness at 6.30am is the way all weekends should start, Drunk Female students dancing is also a positive. I got home at about 9.30am after a Mocha in Starbucks, managed to get another hours sleep then too. Next year I hope to do exactly the same. - Steve, 1:25 AM,
