I'm back in my old job. I think they realised that there is still some more work to get finished and it's easier to do so when someone is sat there ready to tackle it.
This is good news because it would have been easy to completly run out of cash by being out of work for a while, on the other hand it would have been good to start a brand new contract. Even more good news is that there is a new contract on the horizon, in London this time, and it's looking like I'm going to get it.
What I need to think about doing is setting up a Limited Company rather than contracting for others, I may do that soon. I may also be able to get some work for Mrs T to help me out, that would be good for both of us.
At the moment I am "between jobs"; my last Contract has ended and I've not yet got a new one. Now, I'm hoping that I don't have to spend too long out of work but I'm enjoying having a break!
I've taken the dog on a few big walks, it's great not having a schedule or a constantly ringing phone.
Hopefully I'll pick up more work in the next couple of weeks.
I can honestly say I haven't been doing much recently. Work obviously takes up most of my time, and being a Contractor means that I'm not all that keen on taking days off. Weekends are good, I don't work and nor does Clare now, we probably need to make more of an effort to get out and "do stuff" rather than staying home and relaxing though.
So I'm pretty happy with my lot at the moment, but in a homely sort of way. I still need to get myself some sort of a hobby, something to get me off the sofa in an evening/weekend.
When you have a dog and take it on regular walks in your neighbourhood you tend to meet the same dog owners time and again. I'm convinced that one woman (Beagle and Cocker Spaniel) is Hazel O'Connor of early Eighties pop fame, I am going to have to ask her.
I'll tell you what is annoying me at the moment; people who say "A N Other" instead of "Another".
Now, I can sort of understand it (but I still don't like it) when they are talking about persons unknown, like "This paperwork needs to be signed by A N Other before it gets to me". Someone here just said "The toner cartridge has run out, we need to order A N Other".
Life with a puppy is shaping up to be fun, but also quite hard work.
I think it will be a but easier when she can go outside for walks, a couple more weeks left until she is properly vaccinated. Until then, it's a matter of trying to keep her amused and working on instilling some good manners (weeing on the carpet and biting people are both generally unacceptable whoever you are).
