I'm not dead.

My continued silence is due to two main factors:

  • I'm pretty busy at work, both in the normal job and my weekend work as a driver
  • I don't currently have a DSL line at home (or work)

Recently we've struggled to stay on top of all the bills (hence taking on the extra work), Broadband was one of the sacrifices and will probably not get re-connected for another 5-6 weeks. I think we are over the worst of it though and starting to get things back on track.

Working at the weekends has been a pretty good experience, I have picked up at least one shift each weekend and some regular extra cash coming in each week has been a great help. I'm also quite enjoying the work; I tend to be working for one of two companies and for the last couple of weeks I've been delivering Fruit and Veg to hotels and restaurants around London (Knightsbridge, Chelsea, Marble Arch etc). I'm certainly a whole lot more confident now; I can thread a 7.5t truck through tight side streets and back it up onto a loading bay without too much sweating!

So, there have been tough times recently but it has felt good to put in some extra effort to help sort it (I remind myself of that when I have to get out of bed at 3.30 am to go to work) and next month I should receive my yearly bonus from work which should be a great help.

The toughest thing is not being able to listen to Podcasts while I do the washing-up, I'm saving them up for a later date (much like the washing-up).
